Srinagar, Jan 14 : The Government of India has issued an advisory for Indian nationals currently in Iran, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists, asking them to leave the country by available means in view of the evolving situation there.

According to the advisory issued by the Embassy of India in Tehran on January 14, Indian nationals have been advised to depart Iran using all available modes of transport, including commercial flights, while exercising due caution.

The advisory further reiterates that Indian citizens and persons of Indian origin should avoid areas witnessing protests or demonstrations, remain in regular contact with the Indian Embassy, and closely monitor local media for updates.

It also advises Indian nationals to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identification papers, readily available and to contact the Indian Embassy in case of any assistance.

The Embassy has shared emergency contact helpline numbers and an official email address to facilitate support for Indian nationals in Iran. Those who have not registered with the Indian Embassy have been requested to do so through the designated online portal. In cases where registration is not possible due to internet disruptions, families in India have been asked to complete the process on their behalf.

The advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing situation and urges Indian nationals to remain vigilant and follow official instructions.

Meanwhile, All India Medical Students Association Vice President Dr Mohamamd Moomin Khan has requested Prime Minister and EAM to kindly arrange evacuation of Indian students from Iran, considering their safety and financial constraints. [KNT]
