Chief Minister holds pre-budget meetings, reviews priorities across departments

Srinagar, Jan 20: The Chief Minister on Tuesday conducted a series of pre-budget meetings with various government departments to review sector-wise priorities, assess public needs, and align departmental proposals with the overall development goals of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reliable sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the meetings focused on evaluating ongoing schemes, identifying gaps in service delivery and finalising priorities to ensure that the forthcoming budget reflects the aspirations of the people. The Chief Minister emphasised the need for people centric initiatives that directly address grassroots issues and improve the quality of life across both urban and rural areas.

During the interactions, departments were asked to ensure efficient utilisation of resources and place special emphasis on transparency, accountability and timely implementation of projects. The Chief Minister stressed that public welfare and inclusive growth must remain at the core of all policy decisions.

The discussions also revolved around strengthening essential services, improving infrastructure and ensuring equitable development across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Departments were directed to align their proposals with long term development objectives while keeping immediate public requirements in focus.

Sources said the pre-budget exercise is aimed at formulating a balanced and responsive budget that promotes sustainable development, economic growth and social welfare. More such consultations with key stakeholders and departments are expected in the coming days as preparations for the budget gain momentum. [KNT]
