Hopeful Work on Tulbul Navigation and Chenab Water Projects to Begin Soon: CM

Jammu, Feb 10:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said he is hopeful that work on the Tulbul Navigation Project and the Chenab river water diversion project will begin soon.
Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, the CM said the Jammu and Kashmir government is working closely with the Centre after the Indus Water Treaty was put in abeyance.

He said two major projects are being taken up:The Tulbul Navigation Project near Sopore, and a project to lift water from the Chenab river near Akhnoor to supply drinking water to Jammu.

The Chief Minister added that the Chenab water project was earlier submitted to the Asian Development Bank, but it could not move forward because of restrictions under the Indus Water Treaty.

He expressed confidence that both projects will now move ahead. (KNO)
