33 Kashmiri Students Suspended at Rajasthan University

Srinagar, February 12:Thirty-three Kashmiri students studying at Mewar University in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan have been suspended for protesting against the alleged lack of mandatory approvals for the BSc Nursing course.

According to the students, the programme has not yet received recognition from the Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC) and the Indian Nursing Council (INC), approvals that are essential for the legal validity of the nursing degree, professional registration, and future employment.

The students stated that more than 50 Kashmiri students are currently enrolled in the course and warned that their academic future could be at risk if the approval issue remains unresolved. They claimed that the university administration had previously assured them that the required recognitions would be secured, and that last year the Registrar had issued a written assurance stating that the matter would be resolved soon.

However, the students allege that no concrete progress has been made so far and no definite timeline has been provided. Citing continued uncertainty, they staged a protest demanding clarity and immediate action from the university authorities.

Following the protest, 33 students were suspended, prompting concern among their families in Jammu and Kashmir. The students maintain that raising legitimate academic concerns should not result in disciplinary action and argue that obtaining regulatory approval is the responsibility of the institution.

They have appealed to the concerned authorities for immediate intervention to resolve the approval issue and safeguard their academic and professional future.
