CRPF Vehicle Falls into Canal in Srinagar, Seven Personnel Hurt

Srinagar, Feb 21: Seven members of the Central Reserve Police Force sustained injuries after an official vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a canal in Srinagar’s Ahmad Nagar area on Saturday.

According to officials, the mishap occurred along the Umar Hair stretch in Dagpora when a BP bunker vehicle carrying CRPF personnel lost balance while negotiating the road. The vehicle slid off the carriageway and landed in a water channel adjacent to the road.

Emergency responders, assisted by locals, retrieved the injured personnel from the vehicle and rushed them to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Soura for medical care.

Medical sources said the injured personnel suffered fractures and other bodily injuries but are presently stable. The injured have been identified as Naginder Singh, Ajit Kumar Ram, Raj Kishore Rai, Amit Kumar Yadav, Rajdhan Ram, Mankar Kumar and Neeraj Kumar.

Preliminary assessment suggests the driver may have lost control due to road conditions, though the exact cause is being examined. [KNT]
