Arrest Made in Assassination Attempt on Former JK CM Dr. Farooq Abdullah : Police

Jammu, March 12: An alleged attempt was made on the life of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Thursday during a wedding ceremony at Royal Park in Greater Kailash, Jammu, police said.

According to a statement issued by the , the incident occurred while the president was attending the event. Security personnel from the police and the (NSG), deployed for his protection, acted swiftly and foiled the attempt.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody and was later identified as Kamal Singh, son of Ajit Singh, a resident of Purani Mandi, Jammu. Police also recovered the firearm allegedly used in the incident from the accused.

Authorities have taken cognizance of the case and launched a detailed investigation into the matter.

Police said further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
