Infiltration Bid Foiled in Uri, One Militant Killed

Srinagar, Mar 15: Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, killing one militant during an overnight operation, officials said on Sunday.

According to official sources, acting on specific intelligence input provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police about a possible infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on the intervening night of March 14 and 15 in the general area of Buchhar in Uri.

Alert troops noticed suspicious movement of a militant hiding in the bushes. Security forces adjusted their ambush position and challenged him, following which the militant opened indiscriminate fire.

During the ensuing encounter, one militant of Pakistani origin was killed. Security forces also recovered warlike stores from the site, including an AK-series rifle, pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition.

Meanwhile, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said in a post on X that “Operation Diggi 2” is still ongoing in the area, confirming that the infiltration attempt was successfully foiled.
