High-Stakes Peace Talks Begin in Pakistan as US and Iran Delegations Reach Islamabad

Iran and US delegations arrived in Pakistan on Saturday to hold crucial peace talks with an Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker , in an effort to de-escalate tensions in West Asia.

Upon arrival at Nur Khan Air Base, Vance was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Army Chief . He was accompanied by US President’s special envoy and , son-in-law of former President .

Before departing, Vance expressed optimism about the negotiations, stating he hoped for a “positive” outcome. He emphasized that the United States is willing to engage constructively if Iran approaches the talks in good faith, but warned that any attempt to mislead would be met with a firm response.

The Iranian delegation, led by Ghalibaf and accompanied by Foreign Minister , arrived earlier the same day.

The talks come amid a two-week pause in the US-Israeli conflict with Iran, which began on February 28 following military strikes.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating dialogue, expressing hope that both sides would work constructively toward a lasting and durable solution in West Asia.

The negotiations are being closely monitored worldwide, as their outcome could significantly impact regional stability, global energy markets, and the broader landscape of international diplomacy.
