SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday responded to PDP president Mehbooba Mufti’s recent letter calling for a united political outreach to the Centre, saying it gave a “misleading impression” that she had been awaiting an appointment for an extended period, which he described as incorrect.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said Mehbooba Mufti had spoken to him on Saturday and requested a meeting. He added that he had informed her he would be in Pahalgam on Sunday and would contact her on Monday or Tuesday to schedule the meeting.
“Mehbooba Mufti Sahiba, we spoke on Saturday when you asked to meet. I told you I was in Pahalgam on Sunday and would get in touch on Monday or Tuesday to fix a meeting,” Omar Abdullah wrote.Kashmir cultural insights
He further stated that Mufti’s letter created the impression that she had been waiting for an appointment “for weeks on end”, which, he maintained, was not the case.
“Your letter gives the impression that I have kept you waiting for an appointment for weeks on end, which is clearly not the case,” he said.
The Chief Minister also noted that since the letter had already been made public, he would respond through the same channel after consulting senior colleagues in the National Conference.
