Srinagar, June 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department has revoked the suspension of Amar Singh College Principal Prof. Aijaz Ahmad Hakak and posted him as Principal of Islamia College of Science and Commerce, according to an official government order issued on Friday.
As per Government Order No. 182-JK(HE) of 2026 dated June 20, Prof. Hakak, who had been placed under suspension on May 7 and attached with the Higher Education Department pending an inquiry, has been reinstated and transferred to Islamia College Srinagar. The suspension order was withdrawn with immediate effect.
The government also ordered the transfer of Prof. Tehmina Yousuf, who was serving as Principal of Islamia College, to the Directorate of Colleges, Higher Education Department, where she has been attached until further orders.
Meanwhile, noted academician and administrator Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir has assumed charge as Principal of Amar Singh College. He has previously served the Higher Education Department in various capacities and was transferred from Islamia College to Amar Singh College as part of the latest administrative reshuffle.
The development comes more than a month after Prof. Hakak’s suspension, with the Higher Education Department now implementing a fresh set of administrative changes in key educational institutions across the Valley.
Officials said the transfers and postings are aimed at ensuring smooth functioning and effective administration of higher education institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
