Outsourcing Model Introduced by PDP, Not NC: Minister Sakina Itoo

Srinagar, June 21: Jammu and Kashmir Minister Sakina Itoo on Sunday rejected opposition criticism over the outsourcing of government jobs, asserting that the system was introduced during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government and not by the National Conference (NC)-led administration.

Speaking on the sidelines of the International Yoga Day event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Itoo said the current government should not be blamed for a model it did not create.

“The outsourcing system is not a contribution of the National Conference. It was introduced by the PDP. If anyone wants an inquiry, they should investigate what happened ten years ago,” she said.

The minister also alleged that financial irregularities and questionable appointments took place during the PDP’s tenure, claiming that unqualified individuals were appointed to key positions in government-run institutions.

Itoo said she has raised concerns with the Union Government regarding the quality and effectiveness of outsourcing, advocating instead for permanent recruitment.

“We are not getting quality services through outsourcing. It would be better if funds are provided for permanent recruitment so that young people can secure proper jobs through a transparent process,” she said.

Accusing the opposition of misleading the public on employment issues, the minister said political rivals were attempting to hide their past mistakes by making allegations against the present government.

Taking a swipe at the PDP over the abrogation of Article 370, Itoo held the party responsible for many of the political and economic challenges currently facing Jammu and Kashmir. She said issues related to employment, land rights and governance stemmed from decisions made in the past.

The minister challenged the opposition to initiate investigations into previous administrations, maintaining that the current government has nothing to conceal.

“Do not mislead the people. Conduct inquiries wherever necessary. We have nothing to fear,” Itoo said.
