New Delhi, July 25: President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan with immediate effect, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to an official notification issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.

The resignation was accepted under Article 75(2) of the Constitution. Cabinet Minister Pralhad Joshi has been assigned additional charge of the Ministry of Education alongside his existing portfolio until a full-time Education Minister is appointed.

Pradhan submitted his resignation on July 25 following weeks of nationwide protests by students and youth over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 examination paper leak.

The official notification confirmed that the changes in the Union Council of Ministers came into effect immediately after the President’s approval. The government has not yet announced a permanent replacement for the post of Union Education Minister.
