Article 370 Anniversary: Administration Denies Permission for Protests Across Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar, August 5: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has denied permission to all political parties and organisations to hold protest demonstrations anywhere in the Union Territory on Wednesday, August 5, marking the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.

In an advisory, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that no political party or organisation had been granted permission to organise protests or demonstrations. The police warned that any violation of the directions would invite strict legal action under the relevant provisions of law.

The restrictions come after the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) announced plans to hold protests at their party headquarters and district offices to mark the anniversary of the constitutional changes introduced on August 5, 2019.

Authorities have also intensified security arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir, with heightened vigilance in place to prevent any unauthorised gatherings or disruptions. Security personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations, while monitoring has been strengthened across the region as a precautionary measure.

The administration said the measures are aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring peaceful conditions across Jammu and Kashmir during the anniversary.
