Petrol, Diesel, LPG Stocks Sufficient for Over 17 Days: Div Com Kmr

Srinagar, Apr 20: Amid ongoing heavy rainfall and growing concern among the public, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Sunday dismissed rumors of a petrol shortage, assuring that the administration is actively monitoring the situation.

Div Com Kashmir Bidhuri told news agency JKNS, “The situation is being monitored. There is no shortage of petrol. There is no way or question of rushing to petrol pumps. People need not to panic.”

According to official figures shared with news agency JKNS, Valley currently has 5,205 kilolitres of Motor Spirit (Petrol) in stock, which is sufficient for 17 days under normal usage. Diesel (HSD) stock stands at 12,735 kilolitres, enough to last 26 days under standard consumption, data stated.

These figures were released following panic buying at some fuel stations due to continued downpours and temporary road disruptions in several parts of the Valley.

Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing intermittent rainfall for the past few days, resulting in waterlogging, road blockades, and fears of landslides. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm, avoid panic buying, and adhere to safety advisories. (JKNS)
