Kulgam’s Yaripora to Nai Basti, Kanjikullah road in shambles

Kulgam, Jun 04: Residents of Nai Basti, Kanjikullah and adjoining areas in kulgam’s Yaripora are facing massive ordeal as the road in the town are in a dilapidated condition.

Residents of Kanjikullah Yaripora ,Nai Basti,Khanpora and adjoining areas of Kulgam are up in arms against the district administration for failing to repair the road in the town, subjecting the residents of a dozen villages to extreme hardships due to the dilapidated condition of the road.

The locals say that the 3 kilometre stretch of road from Yaripora to Kanji kullah is in shambles and dotted with potholes.

Locals say the distance that can be covered in minutes is covered in half an hour.

Sheikh Irfan, a resident of Nai Basti Yaripora, says that they are suffering due to the indifferent attitude of the Roads and Buildings department towards the village.

Imtiaz Ahmad, a local of the town “Yaripora” Kulgam said the condition of the road from Yaripora to Kanjikullah is in a deplorable condition, and it is painful for them to carry patients.

We are facing severe problems as the road in their area has not been properly macadamized for a long time,he added

“A water pipeline was installed inside the road here in Yaripora to Nai Basti Yaripora, in the Starting year 2024, and since then our road has not been properly macadamized. We have been requesting the government since then to macadamize the road,” said another resident,Mohd Yosuf Khan.

Locals urge authorities to look into the matter and macadamize the road at the earliest.

However, Assistant Executive Engineer (R&B) Kulgam,Prince Ahmad Danroo, told Voice TV Urdu that the road was damaged by the PHE department by installing water pipelines. He further said that he has issued 2 times a note to the PHE department to repair the road, but they are not taking it seriously.

I am going to send them a final notice. If they are not going to repair it, I will bring this issue into the notice of Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan, and I hope they will repair it as soon as possible,he added.
