Gurez, Bandipora | August 7:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, during his visit to the Tribal Festival at Chorwan, Gurez, said that the matter of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir is currently under hearing in the Supreme Court tomorrow He expressed hope that statehood would be restored soon and statehood are essential for democratic functioning in the region.
The Chief Minister also stated that the government is making efforts to strengthen border tourism to support local youth economically. He added that organizing such festivals is part of a broader initiative to promote development in border areas.
Emphasizing the importance of peace along border regions, the Chief Minister said that sustained peace is necessary for long-term progress. He also observed the Line of Control using a telescope during his visit and reiterated the need for peaceful surroundings along the borders.
He said the government is committed to improving mobile connectivity in remote villages such as Chorwan.
As part of the event, a cultural program was held, and certificates were distributed to self-help groups.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Tanvir Sadiq, MLA Gurez Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department, and officials from the civil administration.(Agencies)
