LG Manoj Sinha Orders Reopening of Tourist Spots in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, Sept 26 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday announced the reopening of several tourist spots in Kashmir and Jammu divisions, which had been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure in recent weeks. The decision, he said, was taken following a detailed security review during the Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting held earlier in the day at Raj Bhavan.

“After a thorough security review and discussion in today’s UHQ meeting, I have ordered reopening of more tourist spots in Kashmir and Jammu divisions, which were temporarily closed as precautionary measures,” the Lieutenant Governor said in a statement.

According to the announcement, seven tourist destinations in Kashmir Division, including Aru Valley, Rafting Point Yanner, Akkad Park, Padshahi Park, and Kaman Post, will be reopened. Similarly, five sites in Jammu Division, Dagan Top in Ramban, Dhaggar in Kathua, and Shiv Cave in Salal, Reasi will also resume access to visitors.

The Lieutenant Governor said the sites will officially reopen from Monday, September 29. He added that the decision reflects the administration’s confidence in the prevailing security situation and its commitment to boosting tourism activity across the Union Territory.

Tourism stakeholders have welcomed the move, noting that reopening of these spots ahead of the autumn season will provide a fillip to the local economy and restore confidence among visitors. Security officials, meanwhile, said necessary arrangements will be in place to ensure the safety of tourists. [KNT]
