Termination of Employees Must Be Decided Through Courts, Not on Suspicion: CM Omar

Srinagar, Oct 30: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that termination of government employees in Jammu and Kashmir should be decided through courts rather than on mere suspicion.

Speaking to reporters in Handwara, Omar said every government employee deserves a fair chance to defend themselves before any disciplinary action is taken.

“I have always maintained that termination should be done by the court. Everyone should get a chance to defend themselves,” he said, according to news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

The Chief Minister pointed out that several employees who had earlier been dismissed were later reinstated after being cleared of allegations, proving that many such actions were based on flawed judgments.

“It would be better to use the court process to punish the real culprits. Action taken on suspicion harms everyone,” Omar added.

He also reiterated the National Conference’s long-standing demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and constitutional guarantees, emphasizing that his party remains committed to safeguarding the political and economic rights of the people.

“Opponents are trying to distract and provoke us, but we remain focused on our mission. Whatever I have promised during elections will be fulfilled,” he said.

Omar further stated that the NC’s agenda is centered on justice, development, and representation, stressing that fair governance and employment generation are possible only through equitable representation in government.(KNO)
