Srinagar, Oct 30: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday criticised the Jammu and Kashmir administration after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha dismissed two government employees for their alleged links with militant organisations.
The LG’s office terminated the services of Ghulam Hussain and Majid Iqbal Dar, both teachers, accusing them of supporting the activities of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit.
Reacting strongly, Mehbooba said the move “fuels concerns of a wider agenda to disempower Muslims, especially Kashmiris.”
“Two more government employees have been terminated over alleged militant links and denied even the chance to prove their innocence. This fuels concerns of a wider agenda to disempower Muslims, especially Kashmiris,” she said.
The former chief minister alleged that the dismissals were part of a pattern of discrimination.
“First, they face marginalisation through biased reservation policies, as revealed by recent disclosures on reservation certificates in J&K, and now they endure wrongful dismissals with the judge, jury, and executioner all on one side,” she added.
According to official figures, around 80 government employees have been dismissed from service under Article 311 of the Constitution by the LG-led administration over the past five years for alleged involvement in anti-national or militant-related activities.
