Jailed MP Er Rashid to undertake two-day hunger strike in protest against Delhi blast

Srinagar, November 11, 2025 — The incarcerated Member of Parliament from the Baramulla constituency, Er Rashid, has announced that he will launch a two-day hunger strike starting 9 a.m. on November 12, 2025 inside his cell in Tihar Jail to condemn a bomb blast in Delhi that claimed nine lives and injured several others.

In a letter addressed to the Director General of Prisons, Tihar Jail, New Delhi, Er Rashid expressed grief over the tragic loss of lives caused by the November 10, 2025 bombing.

He voiced concern over media reports indicating that “educated Kashmiris, including doctors” were reportedly joining the path of violence, warning that society cannot afford to lose its educated youth.

Reiterating his stance, the MP called on all stakeholders to “give peace a chance” and appealed to the youth of Kashmir to recognise the serious consequences of violence.

Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, Er Rashid said:

“If I am to make a choice between supporting violence or being called a coward, I would prefer to be called a coward.”
