Baramulla, April 14: President of the Women’s Wing JKECC Baramulla, Asiya Iqbal, has voiced grave concern over the reported incident involving a Class 9 student at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore, urging authorities to initiate a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation.

In a statement issued on Monday , Asiya Iqbal underscored that the safety, dignity, and well-being of students must remain paramount, while justice should be delivered strictly in accordance with the law and without prejudice. She described the incident as “deeply disturbing and profoundly shameful,” asserting that such serious allegations warrant immediate and thorough scrutiny.

“While the protection of students is non-negotiable, it is equally imperative that the investigation is conducted in an impartial manner so that the truth is established beyond doubt.

Justice must neither be compromised nor rushed at the cost of fairness,” she stated.

Highlighting the critical role of educators in shaping society, she stressed that institutions of learning must uphold the highest standards of moral integrity and professional conduct. Any form of misconduct within educational spaces, she said, is unacceptable and must be dealt with firmly.

At the same time, Asiya Iqbal emphasised adherence to due legal process, noting that the accused lecturer is entitled to a fair hearing and an unbiased inquiry.

“No innocent individual should suffer injustice, and no guilty party should evade accountability,” she added.

She called upon the district police to carry out a comprehensive and impartial probe into the matter, while urging the Education Department to implement immediate and effective measures to enhance the safety framework for girl students across schools.

Furthermore, she appealed to the government to introduce stricter regulations aimed at safeguarding students and ensuring swift action against those found guilty, while upholding the principles of justice and fairness in every case.

Reaffirming her commitment to advocacy, she stated, “I will continue to raise my voice for the rights, safety, and dignity of women and girls, while steadfastly standing for truth and justice in society.”
