June 8: The conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States intensified on Monday after Israel launched fresh airstrikes on targets inside Iran, prompting Tehran to fire multiple waves of missiles toward Israeli territory.
Explosions were reported in Tehran, Isfahan, and Tabriz after the Israeli military said it had struck military targets in western and central Iran. Iranian media also reported damage to the Karun Petrochemical Company in Mahshahr, located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan. Authorities later evacuated workers from the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone as a precaution.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had targeted Israel’s Nevatim and Tel Nof air bases. The IRGC said the operation was retaliation for Israeli strikes on Iranian radar and military installations and warned that it was prepared for broader operations if hostilities continue.
Israeli air defense systems intercepted several incoming missiles, with sirens sounding across central Israel, including the Tel Aviv metropolitan area and Jerusalem. Debris from intercepted missiles reportedly fell near Jericho, while Israeli authorities said most threats were successfully neutralized.
The latest escalation comes despite repeated calls for restraint from US President Donald Trump. Speaking to American media outlets, Trump urged Iran to return to negotiations and warned that continued military exchanges could jeopardize diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict.
“This is certainly not going to help. They have to get back to the table and make a deal,” Trump said, while also claiming that any future agreement reached by Washington would ultimately have to be accepted by Israel.
Meanwhile, diplomatic activity intensified across the region. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held consultations with officials from several countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Turkey, Qatar, and Pakistan, amid growing concerns that the conflict could expand further.
The violence has also spilled over into neighboring countries. Israel continued operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, while missile alerts were reported in parts of Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The United States issued security advisories for its citizens in Jordan after reports of projectiles crossing regional airspace.
With both Iran and Israel signaling readiness for further military action, fears are growing that the latest exchange could derail ongoing peace efforts and trigger a wider regional confrontation.
