Militant Killed in Ongoing Encounter in Kupwara

Srinagar, Mar 17 (JKNS): An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in North Kashmir’s Krumbhoora, Zachaldara Rajwar Handwara of Kupwara district on Monday, resulting in the killing of one terrorist, officials said.

A top police official told news agency JKNS that one militant has been killed so far in an ongoing encounter in Krumbhoora, Zachaldara Rajwar.

Earlier, based on specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in Krumbhoora, Zachaldara Rajwar Handwara of district Kupwara, a joint search operation was launched by security forces.

He said that during the operation, the hiding militants opened fire on the security forces, leading to retaliatory action and triggering an encounter.

The operation is still underway, and further details are awaited. (JKNS)
