Proscribed Organizations: Police Continues Raids At Multiple Locations In Srinagar

Srinagar, March 27: Police on Thursday said that in its relentless efforts to dismantle the remnants of seccessionist and terrorist ecosytem in Jammu and Kashmir, it continues to conduct searches and raids at multiple locations in Srinagar as part of the ongoing investigations into cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

In a handout , police said that the cases pertain to banned organization, including Jammu and Kashmir Peoples league (Bashir Ahmad Tota Group).

The searches were carried out in connection with suspected members of these proscribed organizations and in furtherance of investigations in Case
FIR No. 32/2024 under Sections 10, 13 of the UAPA and Sections 121, 121A of IPC registered in Police Station Safakadal Srinagar, he said.

Raids were conducted at the residence of Bashir Ahmad Tota located at Pathan Colony Zakoora and simultaneously at his old residence in Reshanhar Nawakadal Srinagar, he said.

The searches were conducted after obtaining search warrants from the Hon’ble Special Judge designated under the NIA Act in Srinagar. In accordance with legal procedures , all searches were carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, he said.

Srinagar Police remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the city. Any individual found furthering the agenda of violence, disruption, or unlawful activities will face strict legal consequences under the law, reads the statement.
