Two Army Jawans Succumb to Injuries as Akhal Kulgam Encounter Enters Day 9

Kulgam, Aug 9 : Two Army jawans, who were injured in the ongoing encounter in Akhal forest of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, have succumbed to their injuries as the encou ter entered its ninth day on saturday.

Official sources informed news agency Kashmir News Corner — (KNC) that the gunfight, which began last Friday evening, entered its ninth day today with intense firing during night.

“Throughout the saturday night, intense explosions and intermittent firing were reported from the encounter site, as security forces tightened the cordon around the suspected places in the area,” sources said.

Drone surveillance and additional reinforcements have been deployed to cover difficult forest terrain, sources said.

They said the extended duration of the operation indicates the presence of multiple terrorists who are offering stiff resistance.

The injured soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for treatment but could not survive and succumbed to injuries today, a sources said.

Official said that the operation remains in progress, with additional troops deployed to prevent any escape. The area continues to be under a strict cordon as forces attempt to neutralise the terrorists. (KNC)
