Srinagar, Aug 29: Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on Friday constituted a high-level three-member committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Jal Shakti, J&K, to enquire reasons behind landslide incident at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track occurred.
An order issued by Lieutenant Governor J&K, who is also Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board reads, “A high-level three-member Committee, headed by Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Jal Shakti, J&K, is hereby constituted to enquire into the reasons behind the tragic landslide incident near Adhkuwari on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji track, district Reasi on 26.08.2025”.
The Committee shall comprise of Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Jal Shakti, J&K; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; and Inspector General of Police, Jammu.
The Committee shall examine in detail the causes and reasons behind the incident and point out any lapses. It shall access responses in the form of rescue and relief measures undertaken. Further the Committee will suggest appropriate SOPs and measures for preventing recurrence of such incidents in future.
The Committee shall submit its report within two weeks to the Hon’ble Chairman, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
