Nowgam Blast: Amit Shah likely to visit Srinagar today evening

Srinagar, Nov 15: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Srinagar today evening after 9 people were killed and 31 other injured in a high-intensity blast inside Nowgam police station late last evening, sources said on Saturday.

Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Amit Shah will arrive in Srinagar in the evening. “He will briefed about the blast incident inside the police station in Srinagar’s Nowgam,” they said.

A State Investigating Agency (SIA) officer, a Naib Tehsildar were among 9 people dead and 31 others injured in the Nowgam blast.

The blast, according to officials, took place after FSL team along with revenue officials were handling a stockpile of explosives, confiscated from Haryana’s Faridabad last week after Jammu and Kashmir police busted an alleged doctors’ terror module.

The explosive was transported to Srinagar and was kept securely in an open area inside Nowgam police station. As part of the prescribed procedure, the samples of the recovery material had to be forwarded for further forensic and chemical examination. On account of the voluminous nature of the recovery, this procedure was going on since yesterday,” J&K DGP said in a press briefing here today—(KNO)
