Qazigund Youth Dies After Accident; Family Alleges Negligence at GMC Anantnag

Anantnag, April 19: A young man from Qazigund has died after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident at Ashajipora, with his family alleging medical negligence at .

The deceased has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Mir, son of Late Abdul Rehman Mir, a resident of Yarhole Baihama, Qazigund.

According to reports, Bilal suffered serious injuries in an accident near the Fruit and Vegetable Mandi in Ashajipora and was immediately taken to GMC Anantnag for treatment. However, his family claims that he did not receive timely medical attention despite being in critical condition.

Family members alleged that delays and the absence of essential medical staff at crucial moments led to a deterioration in his condition, ultimately resulting in his death. “He was struggling for life, but no immediate response was given. If proper and timely treatment had been provided, he might have survived,” a relative said.

The bereaved family has demanded a fair and transparent inquiry into the incident and called for strict action against those responsible.

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent Dr. Arshad Hassan Siddiqie stated that the matter will be thoroughly investigated and assured that strict action will be taken if any negligence is proven.

The incident has sparked concern among locals, who have raised questions about emergency healthcare services at GMC Anantnag and urged authorities to improve patient care and response systems.
