Srinagar, June 23: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on Tuesday said she had spoken to Punjab Chief Minister regarding the alleged harassment and difficulties faced by Kashmiri mutton traders in Punjab.
In a post on X, Mufti said she had received reports that Kashmiri traders transporting livestock were being stopped at Madhopur and the Shambhu border under the pretext of the Cattle Fair Act, causing disruptions to their business activities.
“I spoke with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann ji about Kashmiri mutton dealers reportedly being stopped and harassed at Madhopur and the Shambhu border. He was kind enough to assure me of prompt action,” Mufti said.
The former Chief Minister thanked Mann for his intervention and expressed hope that the issue would be resolved at the earliest.
The development comes amid concerns raised by sections of the trading community over alleged obstacles faced in the transportation and trade of livestock outside Jammu and Kashmir.
