The United States has launched a new wave of airstrikes on Iran following the deaths of two American soldiers in an Iranian missile and drone attack in Jordan, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). The strikes were carried out on the orders of the US President and were aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities and responding to the attack on US forces.
Iran’s Health Ministry said the latest US strikes have killed at least 50 people and injured more than 500. Meanwhile, Iran claimed it targeted two US military bases in Kuwait with drones and shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone near the southern coastal city of Asaluyeh. These claims have not been independently verified.
Iranian officials also reported fresh US strikes in the provinces of Khuzestan and Hormozgan, including the areas of Qeshm Island and Sirik.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that Tehran has suspended the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and rejected a proposed southern shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, insisting Iran will defend its sovereignty over the strategic waterway.
Amid rising regional tensions, the US State Department warned that Iran-backed groups could target American citizens and interests worldwide. The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and other Gulf states also expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict, urging all sides to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic negotiations.
