Srinagar, Apr 28:Rural infrastructure, women’s empowerment, and agriculture-led development in Jammu & Kashmir received a significant push as Union Minister handed over the sanction letter for road projects under PMGSY-IV (Batch-II) to Chief Minister at a function held at SKICC, Srinagar.
The approved projects, worth ₹3,566 crore, aim to strengthen rural connectivity across the Union Territory. Additionally, a “Mother Sanction” of over ₹4,568.23 crore was released under DAY-NRLM for 24 States and Union Territories.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister , Minister , Leader of Opposition , along with MPs, MLAs, and senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, Chouhan said he visited J&K with a spirit of service, emphasizing that under the leadership of , the Centre is committed to both infrastructure development and emotional integration of the region. He highlighted that Jammu & Kashmir has been given priority under PMGSY-IV, reflecting the government’s focus on the UT.
He termed the approval of nearly ₹8,000 crore worth of road projects within a year as “historic” and said the goal is to connect every village and remote habitation, ensuring better access to schools, healthcare, markets, and economic opportunities.
The initiative is expected to accelerate rural development and improve the quality of life across Jammu & Kashmir.
